Biography
Toronto's emo quartet Moneen got its start from vocalists and guitarists Kenny Bridges and Chris Hughes along with bassist Mark Bowser and drummer Peter Krpan. The group came together in 1999 once Perfectly Normal had broken up, and the next year they issued their debut EP, The Smaller Chairs for the 1900s, through Smallman Records. Their first full-length arrived in 2001 as the ten-song Theory of Harmonial Value. Bassist Erik Hughes came aboard during this period, and Moneen resurfaced in 2003 with Are We Really Happy with Who We Are Right Now?, marking their initial release on Vagrant. November 2005 brought a split EP alongside Equal Vision's Alexisonfire, after which the band spent the following spring on the road with Saves the Day and Circa Survive. Brian McTernan, known for his work with Snapcase and Thrice, handled production duties on the next album, The Red Tree, which came out in April.
