Crate-digging producer Ted Feighan, raised in Ohio, constructs audio collages by sampling lounge and tropicalia alongside hip-hop, recalling the Avalanches, People Like Us, or Madlib pursuing an exotica tangent. His records usually feature cover art built from collages whose vivid, surrealist qualities match the sounds inside. The Monster Rally project first surfaced in 2010 through multiple EPs issued on his own. Gold Robot Records later became his label, putting out the LPs Coral and Crystal Ball plus the Deep Sea EP across 2011. Beyond the Sea arrived the next year along with a pair of EPs recorded alongside Rum Tum, one of them appearing via Waaga Records. Return to Paradise followed in 2013. Foreign Pedestrians, a joint effort between Monster Rally and MC Jay Stone, came out in 2014. When Crystal Ball was reissued in 2015, Feighan reworked several of its tracks into the Psychic EP. The 7" single "Moonlight Ballroom" surfaced during the same year. Mystery Cove arrived as a full-length in 2016, with Flowering Jungle appearing the year after.
