As Mood II Swing, the production team of Lem Springsteen and John Ciafone rose to prominence as one of the most sought-after remix outfits of the late '90s. Their path in the studio opened on a small scale. An unsuccessful foray into R&B prompted the pair to shift focus toward house music instead. Initial efforts including Sylvano's "Helpless" and Wall of Sound's "Critical" pointed forward, much like the tracks "I Need a Bitch" issued on Cutting and "Searchin'" on Groove On, yet the remixes they crafted for Ultra Naté's "Free" on Strictly Rhythm delivered the breakthrough. That single achieved major success, after which Mood II Swing handled mixes for prominent acts such as BT on "Remember" and King Britt on "The Reason," along with Ultra Naté's follow-up "Found a Cure," which likewise scored a major worldwide hit. In recognition of their rising profile, the New York-based Nervous label retrieved several long-unreleased recordings from the duo and issued them as Mood II Swing's Nervous Tracks.
