Biography
Bryan Josh first envisioned Mostly Autumn in the early 1990s, yet the project only took shape in 1998 after he enlisted Heidi Widdop, Iain Jennings, Liam Davison, Alun Hughes, and Chris Walton to launch the ensemble. Once gigs began, the band issued For All We Shared as a memorial to Josh’s late father Rob. Their onstage energy and the fusion of progressive and atmospheric rock with Celtic textures quickly generated interest, securing a Cyclops contract that brought out both For All We Shared and its successor, The Spirit of Autumn Past. The Last Bright Light arrived as the third album in 2001. Classic Rock Productions released the DVD The Story So Far together with Music Inspired by the Lord of the Rings in 2002. Subsequent years saw the steady appearance of Passenger in 2003, Storms Over Still Water in 2005, and Heart Full of Sky in 2006, while the roster experienced repeated departures and returns even as Josh stayed at the helm. The eighth studio album, Glass Shadows, surfaced in 2008 after Josh and Heather Findlay retreated to the Lake District to compose the material. In 2010 the group delivered its ninth album, Go Well Diamond Heart, the first without Findlay’s vocals following her exit to launch a solo career. Touring and recording continued uninterrupted, yielding The Ghost Moon Orchestra in 2012 and Dressed in Voices in 2014. Early 2017 brought the twelfth studio album, Sight of Day, with the band preserving its fully independent, D.I.Y. operation and showing no signs of slowing or pursuing a major-label affiliation.
