Biography
Motion Man's emcee career stretches back to the 1980s, yielding dozens of memorable guest appearances even as he issued relatively few recordings under his own name. Kool Keith devotees remember his verses on the three Keith albums Black Elvis, Sex Style, and First Come, First Served, while followers of The Wake up Show can place his delivery immediately. His single most prominent cut, however, arrived when he recorded "The Terrorist" for Russian mixer and producer DJ Vadim. He also supplied several features on KutMasta Kurt's Masters of Illusion and, at Kurt's request, joined the high-profile Linkin Park remix of "In the End." A declared enthusiast of football and malt liquor, Motion Man first appeared on wax in 1993 with the King Tech-produced single "Mo' Like Flows On," credited under his own name. The 2001 debut album Clearing the Field drew on more than a decade of connections, bringing in E-40 and Busta Rhymes alongside the expected Kool Keith and KutMasta Kurt.
