Biography
Originating in Spain's Andalusian region, the songwriting duo Natalia y Maka blend current pop sensibilities with longstanding flamenco roots. Music entered both members' lives during childhood. Natalia Santos, serving as the pair's lead instrumentalist, entered a Spanish conservatory at age nine and swiftly mastered the viola, guitar, and piano. Macarena Parro uncovered her singing gift by performing Laura Pausini material as a child and later joined the televised contest Lluvia de Estrellas, akin to Star Search. After forming their partnership, Natalia y Maka developed an online following, as the video for their debut song "Cuánto Daría" surpassed two million views on YouTube. They went on to record further tracks and release albums that earned strong acclaim, prompting comparisons to other flamenco-pop acts including Los Caños, Andy y Lucas, and Kiko y Shara.
