Biography
Nico Rezende earned the Sharp Prize for best arranger of the year in 1990 and received further recognition at the Cannes Festival in 1993. Among his notable songwriting credits are “Perigo,” created with Paulinho Lima, “Noite” with Jorge Salomão, “Transas” again alongside Paulinho Lima, “Amor Explícito” co-authored by Antônio Cícero and Paulinho Lima, “Por Querer (Todas)” written with Marina and Antônio Cícero, and “Pseudo Blues” developed with Jorge Salomão. Marina Lima, Zizi Possi, Ritchie, and Simone rank among the many artists who have recorded his material.
During the early 1980s Rezende served as Ritchie’s keyboardist while supplying arrangements for Roberto Carlos, Gal Costa, Lulu Santos, Simone, Barão Vermelho, and Zizi Possi. His debut solo album appeared in 1987 and featured the hit “Esquece e Vem,” written with Paulinho Lima and chosen as the opening theme for a TV Globo soap opera. He also scored success with “Pense Nisso Amanhã,” “Natureza Viva,” and “Além da Sedução,” the last of these composed with Cláudio Rabello.
