Hailing from Thessaloniki, award-winning Greek rock and pop outfit Onirama has built a reputation around its high-energy, festive live shows. The group’s eclectic style blends garage rock, melodic pop, hip-hop, Greek folk elements, and electronic dance music, sometimes shifting among these within a single track, while the members perform in both Greek and English.

Thodoris Marantinis, the lead vocalist and guitarist, and original bassist and backing singer Dionisis Pratzis established the band in 2000 after meeting during mandatory military service; bassist Alexis Papakonstantinou later replaced Pratzis. Founding guitarist Giorgos, drummer Dimitris Kokonidis, and keyboardist Christos Tresintsis—who succeeded original violinist and backing vocalist Kostas Karakatsanis—complete the lineup. What began as a part-time pursuit alongside day jobs gradually expanded through rehearsals, songwriting, and appearances at private parties and neighborhood venues. Their animated performances soon secured steady local bookings and helped spread word of the group.

After nearly two years of label hunting, Onirama joined Lyra Records and released the 2005 debut Diskolos Keros Gia Prigipes. Radio embraced the lead single “O Horos (Klise Ta Matia),” and the follow-up “Mia Mera Tha 'Rtheis” quickly became the band’s first genuine chart success. A winter 2006 residency in Athens alongside Antonis Remos broadened their audience nationwide and earned them the best pop band prize at the fifth annual Arion Music Awards.

The 2008 album Klepsidra topped the Greek charts and earned gold certification, introducing the English-language track “Maybe Today,” now a signature element of their bilingual recordings. Extensive touring filled the next two years, interrupted only by the release of the double-length compilation Horis Etia, which paired reinterpretations of earlier material with guest vocalists, unreleased songs, remixes, and fresh tracks. Shortly afterward the band surprised listeners with the studio album Sti Hora Ton Trelon.

EMI/Universal issued a deluxe edition of the debut in 2013, followed in 2014 by Methysmeno Tatouaz and a deluxe version of Klepsidra. Over the subsequent two-and-a-half years Onirama maintained a heavy schedule of videos, singles, and year-round touring across Greece. In 2017 they assembled the collected singles into Pop Art, featuring “World Party,” a new take on “Klise Ta Matia,” “This Is a Funky Sexy Beat,” and Alex Simon’s remix of “Thelo Na Se Do.”
