Biography
Paul Lekakis, known as a dance singer, assembled a short-lived career during the early 1990s. Raised in Westchester County, New York, he first cultivated his passion for music through church choir performances and high school music and dance instruction. As a teenager he moved to New York City to pursue modeling work while steadily refining his vocal and dance abilities. A modeling assignment in Italy brought him to a nightclub where two record producers noticed him on the dance floor. His debut single, "Boom Boom," appeared soon afterward and registered as an unexpected worldwide success, topping the charts in Australia and Japan while reaching number 15 on the U.S. pop listings. Lekakis then secured a contract with Sire Records, which yielded his first album, Tattoo It, in 1990. The release attracted little notice despite the earlier chart achievement.
