Biography
Perssons Pack, the Swedish folk-rock outfit fronted by its namesake singer and songwriter, operated from 1989 through 1995 and issued six albums during that span, most of which reached the Top 20. Following a long hiatus after the millennium, the group reconvened and returned with the Top Five success Öster Om Heden in 2009. Established in 1989, the original lineup featured Persson on vocals, guitar, and mandolin alongside Magnus Lind on accordion and keyboards, Niklas Frisk on guitar, Dobro, and mandolin, plus Magnus Adell on double bass. Their first recordings appeared that same year with the album Kärlek Och Dynamit and the singles “Bröllopsdag” and “Hanna,” while 1990 brought the follow-up Kanoner Och Små, Små Saker together with the single “Små, Små Saker.” These efforts built a widening audience that carried the band into the Top 20 with Äkta Hjärtan in 1991 and the covers collection Svenska Hjärten in 1992. After moving to the Sonet label, they released their fifth album Längre Bortom Bergen in 1993, scored their biggest single yet with the Top 40 entry “John Henry,” and closed the initial run with Sekunder i Sverige in 1995 before disbanding. Two compilations, Blod Eller Guld in 1998 and Diamanter in 2004, appeared afterward. The reunion lineup retained Persson and Lind while adding Love Antell on guitar, Josef Zackrisson on bass, and Peppe Lindholm on drums; together they delivered the Top Five album Öster Om Heden in 2009 and the single “Stenad i Stockholm,” a duet with Annika Norlin.
