Emerging from Sweden as a pop and rock vocalist, Brolle—occasionally billed as Brolle Jr.—first drew widespread attention through his 2001 stint on the reality series Popstars. The following year he launched a solo trajectory that placed him consistently near the top of the Swedish singles rankings. Born Kjell Junior Wallmark on November 10, 1981, in Boden, Sweden, he issued his first commercial single, “Playing with Fire,” in 2002; the track climbed to number three. Its successor, “Heartbreak City,” followed closely behind at number six. His debut full-length effort, Rebellious Heart (2002), entered the Top Ten and featured both singles. Two years later, Paradise Will Wait (2004) registered at number 16 on the albums chart, generating the Top Five single “Sound of a Drum” and the Top 20 entry “Watching the Stars,” though it did not match the commercial reach of its predecessor. The 2005 release Brolle Jr Tolkar Cornelis, En Stund På Jorden, a Swedish-language set of Cornelis Vreeswijk interpretations, yielded no hits and peaked at number 25. Brolle’s fourth album, Ett Hjärta Som Glöder, Som en Gång Brann (2008), marked his first project credited solely to Brolle rather than Brolle Jr.; the Swedish-language collection reached the Top Five and produced several singles, most notably “Det Är Hon,” which advanced to number two.
