Biography
Swedish pop/rock vocalist Martin Stenmarck first captured national attention in 2005 after representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest, where his entry “Las Vegas” promptly ascended to the top of the domestic singles chart. Born on October 3, 1972, in Täby, Sweden, he had already issued two earlier albums—One in 2001, which also appeared in Germany, and Think of Me in 2004—yet neither made a significant commercial impact. Following his Eurovision appearance, which concluded in nineteenth place, Think of Me was reissued later that year with “Las Vegas” appended and subsequently climbed into the Swedish albums chart’s upper tier.
During 2006 Stenmarck simultaneously led both the albums and singles rankings with Nio Sanningar Och en Lögn and the ten-week chart-topper “7milakliv,” the latter serving as his inaugural Swedish-language release. He reclaimed the summit in 2007 via the single “100 År Från Nu (Blundar),” taken from the Top Five album Det Är Det Pojkar Gör När Kärleken Dör; its successor “Rubb Och Stubb” reached the Top 30 the following year.
