Biography
Born in Stockholm, Marie Serneholt first entered the music scene through her role in A-Teens, the teen pop ensemble responsible for worldwide sales approaching ten million albums. The outfit began by reworking ABBA classics for contemporary youth audiences before issuing four albums in total, during which ten singles climbed to the upper ranks of Sweden's pop rankings. Following the group's dissolution, Serneholt pursued modeling opportunities while distancing herself from musical pursuits until 2005, when she commenced solo recordings alongside Jörgen Elofsson, the composer behind tracks such as Britney Spears' "(You Drive Me) Crazy," Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This," and additional successes for Steps, Westlife, Gareth Gates, and Will Young. Her debut solo effort, Enjoy the Ride, arrived in March 2006 via the boutique imprint affiliated with Sony BMG that Elofsson operated, and of the three singles extracted from it by year's close, merely "That's the Way My Heart Goes" managed to secure a position within Sweden's Top Ten.
