The Plump DJs, made up of Lee Rous and Andy Gardner, forged one of the heaviest sonic signatures to surface at the turn of the millennium: a retro-style mix of acid house and high-voltage electro that saturated dance floors throughout Britain while also soundtracking Levi's commercials and Sony PlayStation titles. From their Laboratoire Plump workspace tucked away in Soho, the pair refined this approach on the early Finger Lickin' singles "The Push" and "No Way." Joining Armand Van Helden and Ganja Kru, they reworked War tracks for the Grooves & Messages anthology and quickly drew praise from top British DJs on radio (Pete Tong, Judge Jules) and in clubs (Fatboy Slim, Sasha). Further reworkings arrived for Orbital, BT, Freestylers, and Elektronauts before their first album, A Plump Night Out, appeared in 2001.
