Port Cities

Halifax-based Port Cities bring together three accomplished Canadian singer/songwriters whose music merges breezy Pacific Ocean pop with dusty country-folk echoes of Nickel Creek, Fleetwood Mac, Hem, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Breagh MacKinnon, Carleton Stone, and Dylan Guthro first assembled the Cape Breton trio in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2011 while each maintained an active solo career, yet the group remained unofficial for several years. After spending four years collaborating across one another’s bands and assorted solo endeavors, they began writing material together and signed a major-label contract with Warner in 2015. The following year they issued the singles “Astronaut” and “Back to the Bottom,” both highlighting the trio’s fluid three-part harmonies, ahead of a debut full-length slated for 2017.
