Biography
Los Angeles served as the birthplace for Racquet Club, an American indie rock quartet comprised of seasoned veterans. Singer and guitarist Blair Shehan, previously of Knapsack and the Jealous Sound, joined forces with Sergie Loobkoff from Samiam and Knapsack, along with drummer Bob Penn from the Jealous Sound and bassist Ian Smith to establish the band. Their formation received official confirmation in the first part of 2017, at which point they had already completed recording sessions for their initial album under the guidance of producer Alex Newport, known for work with Bloc Party and Frank Turner, while also securing a deal with Rise Records. The band's sound, characterized by its edgy and introspective qualities in the rock genre, mirrors the style found in the earlier projects of its members. Racquet Club first performed live during May 2017, and later that same year in September, Rise Records released the group's self-titled LP.
