Originating from the housing projects of Passaic, New Jersey, Rasheed Chappell channels New York street life through sharp, poetic verses set against gritty percussion. His earliest commercial work came via Kenny Dope, opening with the 2008 single "Dope Muziq" and extending to two albums on the Kay-Dee label, Future Before Nostalgia (2011) and First Brick (2018). In the years between those releases he contributed primarily as a guest on tracks by peers including Apollo Brown and Napoleon da Legend. Output and reach both expanded sharply once the 2020s arrived, beginning with a partnership alongside D.I.T.C. veteran Buckwild on Sinners & Saints. Checks & Balances with fellow MC 38 Spesh and Rx with Xp the Marxman both appeared in 2021. Annual full-lengths continued in the same collaborative vein: A Portrait Of paired him with Long Island’s Little Vic, Sugar Bills resulted from sessions with Boston-area beatmaker the Arcitype in 2023, and the colorful, high-energy Nonstop: JFK > ATL arrived in 2024 alongside Beatsbyjblack.
