Biography
MC R.E.D.K. formed one-fifth of the French hip-hop collective Carpe Diem and rose to become its most prominent figure once fellow Marseille rapper Soprano brought him into the fold. The five members—Teddy, Picrate, Lo, Reso, and R.E.D.K.—first united as Maudit Gang in the mid-'90s, where they became known for stories addressing social inequality and racism, then adopted the Carpe Diem name soon after signing to Soprano's Street Skillz label in 2003. Soprano stayed closely involved, handling production on several tracks from the 2005 street tape Notre Silence à Toujours Son Mot à Dire, yet it was R.E.D.K. whom he chose as a featured artist on the 2011 album Le Corbeau (Starting Block). After the group delivered its self-titled studio album, the two artists collaborated on the 2012 joint release E=2MC's.
