Formed in Argentina during 1980, the heavy metal outfit Riff came together through bassist Víctor Bereciartúa, singer Juan García, guitarist Norberto Napolitano, drummer Michel Peyronel, and guitarist Héctor Serafine. Their first album, Ruedas De Metal, arrived in 1981, after which the group appeared at Buenos Aires' Obras Sanitarias toward the close of that year. Danny Peyronel entered the lineup in 1983 and the band captured a live performance that became the double album En Acción. Early criticism focused on the outfit’s extremely violent shows, yet after defending its approach Riff turned its attention to the music and abandoned the reputation for aggression. A temporary breakup ended with reunion in 1985, when singer/guitarist Juan Antonio Ferreira and drummer Oscar Moro joined, the latter later replaced by J. Morelli. Que Sea Rock appeared in 1997.
