Biography
Raised in the Catalan city of Lérida, Roger Mas came into the world in 1975 and began studying both clarinet and saxophone while still in his early teens. Over time his attention turned toward ethnic music. A prize from a local radio outlet in 1996 launched his recording career, which by 2012 had yielded eight albums ranging from Les Flors del Somni in 1997 to Ciutat de Barcelona, the latter a joint project with the Catalan folk ensemble Cobla Sant Jordi. Through sustained exploration of traditional, ethnic, and contemporary musical and linguistic forms, Mas secured recognition as one of the leading Catalan singer-songwriters of his generation.
