Drawing their name from the provocative Japanese author, the intellectually inclined Barcelona indie pop group Mishima assembled near the end of the 1990s. Core participants at the outset comprised lead singer and principal songwriter David Carabén together with Christian Aloy on guitars, Marc Lloret on keyboards, Óscar d'Aniello handling drum programming, and Dani Acedo on bass. The band's opening two albums, Lipstick Traces in 2000 and The Fall of the Public Man in 2003, appeared in English, yet critical and popular recognition arrived only after the switch to Catalan on the third release, Trucar a Casa. Recollir les Fotos. Pagar la Multa from 2005, an approach retained across every subsequent project. Personnel shifts followed, with Dani Vega, Alfons Serra, and Xavi Caparrós taking the places of Aloy, Acedo, and d'Aniello.
