Runkus

Sebastian Anthony Bennet, professionally recognized as Runkus, operates as a Jamaican singer, DJ, MC, songwriter, and producer who has focused on developing a personal musical style that fuses reggae, dancehall, trap, and hip-hop. Born in Portmore, Jamaica, to reggae artist Determine and booking agent Paula Francis, he gained an early foothold in the industry through studio work alongside his father beginning at age seven. His first mixtape arrived at fifteen as the father-son collaboration Like Father Like Son. The 2014 launch of his band Oldksi Bond brought live shows across Jamaica and the release of singles “Victim” and “Run.” Shifting to solo work under the name Runkus, he delivered his debut EP in 2016. The 2019 single “99%” opened the door to further projects that included a featured appearance on the Skints’ “Armageddon” from Swimming Lessons and co-production credits on two tracks from Jah9’s Note to Self. During the COVID-19 lockdowns he remained active by writing and recording the 2021 project IN:SIDE.
