Biography
Growing up in Metro Detroit, Ryan Crosson drew strong influence from the second wave of Detroit techno DJs, including Richie Hawtin, who performs as Plastikman. After several years performing as a DJ throughout the Detroit region, he transitioned into production during the autumn of 2003. His demos, shaped by minimal techno figures like Matthew Dear and Stewart Walker, caught the attention of Trapez, the label based in Cologne, leading to the release of his first 12-inch, Say So, in 2005. He helped establish the Detroit-based collective known as Beretta Grey, while also putting out additional releases on minimal techno labels including Archipel and Telegraph. Richie Hawtin came across his tracks, which opened doors for Crosson to secure prominent placements on various M-nus projects associated with Hawtin. Under the alias Berg Nixon, he releases material on M-nus, with contributions featured on the DE9: Transitions mix CD and the 2006 min2Max compilation. Additionally, he collaborates with Seth Troxler, known as Young Seth, using the pseudonym Retale.
