John Fredericks and Andy Breihan, longtime friends who both write and sing songs, came together to launch Sacco, a project steeped in a potent blend of fuzzy, dust-blasted indie rock and hazy psych-folk. Although the band calls New York City home, its relaxed melodies and unhurried approach evoke the feel of the members’ California roots far more than the city’s constant motion, a quality also found in fellow West Coast transplants Cults and Delta Spirit, acts with whom Sacco has performed live. Early in 2014 the group unveiled two music videos through Daytrotter and Stereogum. “Carnival Ghost” and “Driving” later surfaced on the band’s self-titled full-length debut that same summer.
