Scars

Originating in Scotland, The Scars emerged from Edinburgh’s late 70s punk scene, featuring Bobby King on vocals, Paul Research on guitar, John Mackie on bass and Calumn Mackay on drums. Their first shows displayed raw enthusiasm more than technical polish, underscoring the members’ youth, yet the quartet steadily developed skill and a personal voice. Issued on the local Fast Product label, ‘Adultery’ demonstrated a clear command of melody and prompted a 1981 deal with Charisma Records’ short-lived Pre subsidiary. Although Author! Author! proved an outstanding art/punk collection, the album remained the band’s sole recording and they disbanded soon after its appearance.
