Biography
Hailing from Atlanta, Sean Garrett works as an R&B vocalist, composer, and record producer who has supplied major successes to Beyoncé, Usher, Fergie, Ciara, and numerous additional leading figures. His given name at birth was Garrett Hamler, and he first gained recognition as a prolific songwriter in 2004 by crafting the Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles “Yeah!” for Usher and “Goodies” for Ciara along with the Top Three hit “Soldier” for Destiny’s Child. During 2005 he supplied material to Mary J. Blige, Mario, 112, Amerie, Chris Brown, Teairra Mari, Omarion, and Donell Jones, among them the chart-topper “Run It!” recorded by Chris Brown. The following year he contributed tracks to the Pussycat Dolls, Fergie, Beyoncé, Kelis, Fantasia, Diddy, Jamie Foxx, Jay-Z, JoJo, Gwen Stefani, and Monica, highlighted by the number-one entries “London Bridge” for Fergie and “Check on It” for Beyoncé. Although 2007 brought no additional leaders on the charts, the period remained active for him and marked the start of preparations for his own recording career, which opened with the single “Grippin’” issued in early 2008. That release failed to attract attention and never appeared on the Hot 100, resulting in a postponement of his first album, Turbo 919.
