Serge Devant, born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, received classical training before his family relocated to New York in the 1990s and immersed him in the local electronic scene. Frequent visits to venues such as Sound Factory, Twilo, and Tunnel soon led to an early performance at the last of those clubs. Drawing inspiration from Jean-Michel Jarre and Depeche Mode, he issued material on several modest imprints before securing a spot on the Ultra roster, where he also assumed resident duties at Crobar. That period produced cuts including “Part of Me,” “Sweet Harmony,” and “Addicted,” the latter appearing on his 2009 debut album, Wanderer. The follow-up full-length, Rewind, arrived in 2012 and again celebrated the decade’s sounds through a version of the KLF’s “3 A.M. Eternal” that featured vocalist Taleen.

A snowboarding accident damaged his back and forced a year-long hiatus, prompting a shift in approach. The 2015 release “Fearing Love,” a sleek deep-house track with Damiano C and Camille Safiya, marked his return and served as the inaugural single on Hot Creations’ vocal-focused imprint Emerald City. Additional EPs followed, anchored by numbers such as “Always on My Mind” and “Waiting,” while 2017’s “Thinking of You” again paired him with Damiano C and Camille Safiya. Further singles arrived in 2020 with “Third Planet” and “Girl’s Laugh.” In 2022 he teamed with Forrest for the Hush Hush EP, and he continued the following year with the track “A Little Bit of Love.”
