Severin

Alec Bourgeois served as vocalist in Severin, an early-'90s D.C. indie rock band that included Gray Matter guitarist Mark Haggerty, before he fronted the Capitol City Dusters. Bourgeois established Superbad Records, which joined Dischord Records in issuing three Severin singles. The group's textured, anxious sound received West Coast treatment on a single released by Sub Pop. Their lone full-length, Acid to Ashes, Dust to Rust, came out on Dischord. Presumably named after Steve Severin of Siouxsie and the Banshees, the band dissolved in 1993. Drummer Alex Daniels rejoined former Swiz bandmates to form Sweetbelly Freakdown, while bassist Eugene Bogan continued with Rummy and Birdshot.
