New York rapper Sha Ek unleashes raw intensity through aggressive delivery and rapid-fire chants across his hard-hitting drill productions. Raised in The Bronx, the artist born Chalim Perry in 2003 first explored rap as a teenager before the COVID-19 lockdowns of early 2020 prompted him to lay down his own intense tracks out of sheer inactivity. A handful of initial 2020 releases paved the way for his 2021 breakthrough, the forceful and ominous “D & D” featuring Blockwork. Additional standout singles throughout 2021 and 2022 attracted attention from Warner-owned Defiant Records, which signed him to a recording deal. His debut full-length mixtape, Face of the What, arrived in September 2022 and included guest appearances by Sleazyworld Go, Bandmanrill, and additional artists, quickly claiming the top spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart. Return of the Jiggy followed in December of the same year. In August 2023 he issued the Trippie Redd collaboration “Who You Touch, Pt. 2.”
