Sleepy hallow

An early innovator within Brooklyn's drill movement, rapper Sleepy Hallow first gained attention through the landmark "Panic" series of releases, advancing the style's sonic palette while working closely with frequent partner Sheff G. Mainstream visibility and commercial traction arrived initially via the 2020 cut "Deep End Freestyle," then expanded further through the richer arrangements and writing on his 2021 debut full-length Still Sleep?, and again with the 2022 track "Die Young." His 2023 follow-up Boy Meets World offered deeper personal insight via raw verses that confronted grief and psychological challenges. The 2024 releases "Winners in Paris" and "Yes Freestyle" continued his output.

Jamaican-born and Brooklyn-raised, Sleepy Hallow launched his recording efforts with a series of early singles that highlighted his bond with neighborhood associate Sheff G, including "Disrespect" from July 2017 and "Haters Hurtin" from the following month. Positioned at the leading edge of the borough's rising drill wave, the pair reworked U.K. beats from AXL and MKthePlug into a local framework, incorporating New York vernacular and fresh rhythmic patterns. Joined by DoubleG, they soon dropped the defining "Panic," the first entry in an ongoing sequence as the artists refined their sound. After wrapping 2017 with "Saucin" and the joint "Glocc wit a Sticc," Sleepy reunited with Sheff G for "Attic" in January 2018, then quickly followed with another "Panic" installment. Building a catalog around low-end vocals and stark imagery, he navigated the remainder of 2018 via solo outings and additional Sheff G pairings, reaching a commercial peak with the third "Panic" release.

During 2019 Sleepy concentrated on two extended projects, appearing on seven tracks from Sheff's introductory album The Unluccy Luccky Kid before unveiling his own debut mixtape Don't Sleep. Although both efforts preserved the duo's distinctive energy and delivery, they shifted away from core drill foundations toward varied trap territory. Sleepy's 2020 material, while still rooted in trap, explored wider territory across his second mixtape Sleepy for President and The Black House EP, moving between guitar-led reflection and boundary-pushing drill experiments. International reach came with "Deep End Freestyle," a spare single that spread globally via viral clips and prompted his RCA deal.

Under major-label support, Sleepy prepared his first proper studio album. Fronted by the successful "2055," Still Sleep? landed in June 2021 with heightened production values and further departures from conventional drill. The project performed well commercially, peaking at number 16 on the Billboard 200 and later earning gold certification. He returned to standalone releases with 2022's "Die Young," featuring 347Aidan and charting on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs. That year also brought "2 Minutes of Pain" alongside Alborosie and "Marie," while "Pain Talk" with Lil Tjay arrived in 2023. These tracks paved the way for the September 2023 studio album Boy Meets World, which featured Fivio Foreign, Doechii, Marshmello, and additional guests and reached number 17 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Subsequent months saw solo offerings such as "Cupid's Guidance" and "Winners in Paris," plus the 2024 Sheff G collaboration "Yes Freestyle."
