Biography
Florida rapper Yungeen Ace navigated successive hardships after a troubled youth shaped his turbulent path through music. One among twelve siblings, he endured an unexpectedly solitary childhood before embracing both music and street existence during adolescence. Online drops of his independent material began in March 2018, and within months, as his anguished and turbulent recordings gained traction, a drive-by shooting in Jacksonville claimed his brother along with two companions. In the aftermath he issued his first mixtape, Life of Betrayal. A rapid succession of further projects—Life I'm Livin (2018), Can't Speak on It (2019), Step Harder (2020), and Don Dada (2020)—displayed his blend of melodic and conventional approaches, culminating in a 2021 viral breakthrough that reworked Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” into a street-oriented track. Later that year came his debut album, Life of Betrayal 2x, with Survivor of the Trenches appearing in 2022. Another full-length, Forgotten Star, arrived in 2024, succeeded by the tracks “Game Over” and “Ready To Die.”
Born Keyanta Bullard in 1998, Yungeen Ace passed his first years in Chicago before his family moved to Florida during early childhood. In Jacksonville he confronted persistent poverty and a hazardous setting marked by street violence throughout his teenage period. Solo writing and recording commenced with the March 2018 release of his initial single, “No Witness.” Additional singles followed until June of that year, when Yungeen Ace and companions were targeted in a Jacksonville drive-by after leaving dinner. Multiple gunshot wounds left him the sole survivor among the group that included brother Trevon Bullard and friends Royale Smith, Jr. and Jercoby Groover. House arrest followed immediately, and the debut mixtape Life of Betrayal appeared in August, with Life I'm Livin emerging later the same year. That project contained fresh material reflecting recent losses, notably the standout “Wanted” featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, alongside prior releases such as the JayDaYoungan collaboration “Jungle.” In 2019 he joined Boosie Badazz, Lil Durk, and additional artists for the sixteen-track Step Harder. Don Dada, fronted by the single “Heartbroken,” represented his first substantial 2020 project. A steady flow of singles including “Withdraw from Life” and “Fighting Pain” led into 2021, which produced “Opp Boyz” and “Gun Em Down.” One of his most striking successes arrived with 2021’s “Who I Smoke,” which repurposed Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” into a pointed anthem. The full-length Life of Betrayal 2x followed later that year. Survivor of the Trenches surfaced in 2022 and included contributions from Rob49, FastMoney Goon, GMK, Real Boston Richey, and others. Singles such as “Did it First” and “I’m Not Alright, Not Okay” sustained his visibility the next year, preceding the early-2024 arrival of Forgotten Star. The fifteen-track collection contained no guest appearances and centered exclusively on its lead artist. The subsequent singles “Game Over” and “Ready To Die” appeared later in 2024.
