Originating from Compton, the driven rapper, singer, and producer Kalan.FrFr channels his output into honoring everyday existence while probing the intensity of emotional pain. Kalan.FrFr joined Roc Nation Records soon after unveiling his TwoFr 2 project in 2021, which expanded his reach internationally. An enlarged edition of TwoFr 2 followed promptly, adding fresh contributions from Lil Durk and 1TakeJay to an existing roster that already contained Mozzy and Stunna 4 Vegas. His second Roc Nation album, 222, surfaced in 2022 and centered on fluid, romantic anthems such as "Light Breeze" and "No Stoppin'" with Blxst. The Not Hard 2 Understand EP and tracks including the mischievous "Ain't No Fun" emerged across 2023 and 2024.

Kalan Montgomery, born in Carson, California, and raised in nearby Compton, began crafting beats and rapping as a teenager. Following high school graduation he enrolled at San Diego State University via a football scholarship. By late 2016, the year he completed his studies, he had independently issued recordings such as "Bandz" and the Rich the Kid collaboration "21." Originally dropped in 2017, "Fine Ass" grew into his most widely embraced song during 2018, a decisive period that also brought the breakup-themed Hurt EP and the First Class Entertainment album TwoFr, which contained "Fine Ass" plus the even larger "Right wit It" featuring G Perico and Chris O'Bannon. Kalan maintained the same pace through 2019 and 2020, releasing the full-length Leak the Tape, the EP The Score, numerous guest appearances, and stray singles that included a YG remix of "Right wit It."

TwoFr 2 landed in early 2021 with selections such as "Scoring" and the Stunna 4 Vegas collaboration "Get In." Kalan signed with Roc Nation Records immediately afterward, put out an expanded edition, and accumulated more than 100 million streams globally. He capped his breakout year by launching the TwoFr Tour, which featured surprise guests including Blxst, 1TakeJay, Rubi Rose, 808 Mafia, and others. Throughout 2022 Kalan continued issuing new material such as the melodic, hook-driven "No Stoppin" (with Blxst) and the upbeat summer anthem "Light Breeze," both featured on his 2022 album 222. He also completed the seven-city Never Lose You Tour that year before joining YG's Red Cup Tour as support in 2023. At the close of 2023 Kalan delivered Not Hard 2 Understand, a six-track EP that included Quavo on "Butterfly Coupe, Pt. 2." In the following year he handled "Ain't No Fun" and "Everybody," and he appeared on Steve Aoki's "3 Days."
