Rapper RJMrLA, also known as RJ, delivers his viewpoint rooted in South Central Los Angeles through commanding verses paired with melodic, sing-song choruses. Strong connections to Mustard, YG, and Ty Dolla $ign supported his rise. His first full-length project came with the 2013 mixtape O.M.M.I.O, followed by a sequel in 2015 whose Mustard-produced single “Hoes Come Easy” achieved wider success than any prior recording. The 2017 album MrLA extended that progress via the Ty collaboration “Is It Mine.” RJ subsequently founded his own Empire-distributed OMMIO label, which has issued On God in 2019, the 2023 DJ Drama joint project OMMIO Grillz, and The Bitch Tape in 2024.

RJ began issuing material immediately in 2013. Alongside the release of O.M.M.I.O (“On My Mama I’m On”) on Pushaz Ink—the label established by Mustard, YG, and Ty Dolla $ign—he appeared across Mustard’s Ketchup tape and joined YG and Nipsey Hussle on “Been from the Gang.” After featuring on YG’s “When I Was Gone” in 2015, Mustard’s 10 Summers imprint released both the RJ and Royce the Choice tape Rich Off Mackin and the follow-up to O.M.M.I.O. The track “Hoes Come Easy” from the latter notably expanded RJ’s reach. Signed to the 400 Summers venture shared by Mustard and YG, he delivered the album MrLA in 2017 and closed the year with Mustard on The Ghetto, which included the Rae Sremmurd collaboration “Hard Way.”

Near the end of the 2010s RJ went independent after launching his Empire-distributed OMMIO imprint. In 2019, around the time he contributed to Snoop Dogg’s “Ventalation,” he released On God, which he presented as his genuine debut LP. The album featured appearances from ScHoolboy Q, Young Thug, the Game, and G-Eazy. RJ maintained momentum afterward, reuniting with Royce the Choice for Rich Off Mackin 2 and issuing Let Me Talk My Shit in 2020. Across 2022 and 2023 he put out Rodney Brown Jr. and OMMIO Grillz, then early in 2024 followed with The Bitch Tape, a relationship-focused project led by the single “Unleashed.”
