Biography
Resurrecting the distinctive sounds of early-'90s West Coast G-funk, rapper G Perico links street experience with studio craft through cinematic storytelling drawn from South Central Los Angeles. A consistent flow of mixtapes has showcased this approach, beginning with early efforts such as 2016's Shit Don't Stop and advancing to more developed projects including 2021's Play 2 Win and 2022's South Central. That steady productivity extended into 2024 with the arrival of G Slim's Revenge.
Born Jeremy Nash, Perico entered gang life at an early age, and his initial tapes appeared during a period of incarceration. Employing a delivery reminiscent of DJ Quik, Too $hort, and Eazy-E, he began cultivating an audience through 2015's Tha Innerprize 2. The following year brought his breakthrough mixtape, Shit Don't Stop. In 2017 he issued three separate projects, opening with the All Blue mixtape—an allusion to his Crips affiliation—which appeared on his own independent imprint So Way Out. Next came G-Worthy, a notable collaborative album uniting him with Bloods-affiliated Jay Worthy and producer Cardo. Before year's end, Perico delivered 2 Tha Left, which contained the single "Everybody" along with guest spots from Nef the Pharaoh, Mozzy, Curren$y, and frequent collaborator Polyester. The year 2018 yielded the single "Colors" alongside Freddie Gibbs and Mozzy, followed by the Guess What? EP.
During 2019, Perico revealed a partnership agreement linking Roc Nation with his So Way Out label. The first of two anticipated joint releases, Ten Eight, surfaced that August. The full-length album featured the single "Big Raccs" and contributions from Sonny Digital, AzChike, and Bucho. Perico maintained a regular schedule of new projects and singles, both solo and collaborative, over the ensuing years. In 2021 he issued multiple mixtapes—No Love in LA, Free, and Welcome to the Land—plus the more expansive Play 2 Win, which carried several contributions from 03 Greedo as well as appearances by BlueBucksClan and additional artists. The pattern continued in 2022 with a steady sequence of singles, the collaborative EP Tango alongside Gotdamnitdupri, the brief solo EP 111th East, and the full-length South Central. In 2023 he joined forces with DJ Drama on the Gangsta Grillz project Hot Shot. 7 Figures Later and LA Summers 3 completed that year's output, while G Slim's Revenge surfaced in 2024.
