Born and raised in Atlanta, the rapper Lil Baby projects an assured and magnetic presence while dominating global audiences with a street-edged style that still connects on mainstream levels. His ascent accelerated sharply in 2018 after a string of earlier mixtapes, when he issued his first official studio album Harder Than Ever, featuring the Drake-assisted single “Yes Indeed,” alongside the joint project Drip Harder with Gunna; both efforts landed inside the Billboard 200’s upper tier. In 2020 he claimed his first chart-topping position with the studio set My Turn, then repeated the feat the following year on the joint album The Voice of the Heroes alongside Lil Durk. Another number-one debut arrived in 2022 via the third studio release It’s Only Me. The 2023 stand-alone tracks “Go Hard” and “Crazy” paved the way for the January 2025 arrival of WHAM (Who Hard as Me), which also entered the Billboard 200 at the summit.

Dominique Jones entered the world in Atlanta in 1994. During his formative years he associated closely with Young Thug, Coach K, and Pee, although his own path initially veered toward minor offenses and neighborhood hustles while his peers built careers in music. At nineteen he received a two-year sentence for violating probation and remained incarcerated until 2017. Shortly after his release he launched his recording career with the April mixtape Perfect Timing, which showcased appearances from Lil Yachty, Young Thug, and Gunna over beats supplied by 808 Mafia, Brickz, and additional producers, all anchored by Lil Baby’s distinctive woozy delivery. The project quickly raised his profile, aided by his ties to the Quality Control roster and the Four Pockets Full circle.

Sustained output followed throughout 2017, including the summer singles “My Dawg” and the Young Thug collaboration “Pink Slip,” plus the projects Harder Than Hard, 2 the Hard Way with Marlo, and Too Hard. His proper studio debut Harder Than Ever surfaced in May 2018, boasting guest spots from Drake, Offset, Lil Uzi Vert, and others before settling at number three on the Billboard 200. That October he and Gunna returned with the collaborative mixtape Drip Harder, which peaked at number four; Street Gossip arrived the next month. In 2019 Lil Baby took an acting role in the film How High 2 and dropped several singles, among them the Future-assisted “Out the Mud.”

Preceded by the tracks “Woah” and “Sum 2 Prove,” the second studio album My Turn reached number one upon its February 2020 release. Additional singles “On Me” and “Errbody” appeared later that year, followed in June by the protest record “The Bigger Picture,” which addressed police violence and systemic racism, debuted at number three on the Hot 100, and earned Grammy nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance; Lil Baby performed the song at the ceremony. March 2021 brought a featured turn on Drake’s “Wants and Needs,” which opened at number two on the Hot 100 and marked Lil Baby’s highest placement to date. June saw the joint album The Voice of the Heroes with Lil Durk, containing contributions from Rod Wave, Meek Mill, Young Thug, and Travis Scott, enter the chart at number one.

Early 2022 yielded the Nicki Minaj collaborations “Do We Have a Problem?” and “Bussin.” October brought the third studio album It’s Only Me, featuring Nardo Wick, Young Thug, EST Gee, and additional guests, which again debuted at number one. The 2023 single “Go Hard” led into a guest spot on DJ Khaled’s “Supposed to Be Loved” and the solo cuts “Merch Madness,” “350,” and “Crazy.” In 2024 the Central Cee-assisted “Band4Band” climbed into the Hot 100’s top twenty, while further releases included “Roll da Dice” with 4batz and “5AM.” “Insecurities” served as the lead single for WHAM (Who Hard as Me), issued in January 2025 and featuring 21 Savage, GloRilla, Travis Scott, and others, which entered the Billboard 200 at number one.
