Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo packs his verses on street existence with raw intensity and threat. This tireless artist launched mixtapes as early as 2012 and began locking down high Billboard 200 placements with the Top Five entry Federal 3X in 2017, a run that carried through studio albums such as 2020’s Time Served and the 2021 chart-topper A Gangsta’s Pain. The 2023 mixtape Hard to Love sustained the pattern by reaching number ten, and Speak Now followed in 2024.

Born Demario White, he issued his first projects, From Da Block 2 Da Booth and October 20th, in 2012. After further releases including 2015’s Relentless and Federal, he earned wider notice and captured a Memphis Hip Hop Award for Mixtape of the Year. Federal Reloaded arrived in 2016 with Y Grizzle, Young Dolph, and OG Boo Dirty, while ELO (Everybody Lives On) brought in Yo Gotti on “A Lot of ’Em” and Migos’ Quavo on “Days n Nites.” Continued work with Yo Gotti produced the joint mixtape 2 Federal.

Heartless surfaced in early 2017 and registered on the Billboard 200, featuring YFN Lucci on “Wit This Money” and Lil Durk on “Yesterday.” Federal 3X landed later that year at number five on the Billboard 200. Months afterward, Moneybagg teamed with YoungBoy Never Broke Again for the collaborative mixtape Fed Baby’s. He opened 2018 with 2 Heartless, which reached number 16 on the Billboard 200; the eleventh solo mixtape included Quavo plus Memphis rappers BlocBoy JB and Yo Gotti. Bet on Me, carrying appearances by Young Thug and Gunna, dropped in August, and his first proper studio album, RESET, arrived that November. The following May brought 43va Heartless, which climbed to number four on the Billboard 200.

Time Served, his third studio album, opened 2020 and improved on that mark by debuting at number three. A deluxe edition with seven extra tracks emerged later that year, as did the Billboard-charting LP Code Red, a joint project with Blac Youngsta. A Gangsta’s Pain arrived in 2021, carrying turns from Kaash Paige, Big30, Future, Tripstar, Polo G, Lil Durk, Jhené Aiko, and Pharrell Williams, and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Throughout 2022, Moneybagg released singles with Digga D, DaBaby, Kodak Black, and others while co-hosting the CMG label compilation Gangsta Art alongside Yo Gotti. Solo tracks “Blow” and “Quickie” surfaced near the close of the year. In June 2023 he dropped the mixtape Hard to Love, which featured Lil Durk, Future, GloRilla, and additional guests and quickly ascended the charts. “Bussin,” a 2024 collaboration with Rob49, entered the Top 50 of the Top Hip-Hop/R&B Songs chart, “Tryna Make Sure” reached the Top 40, and the full-length Speak Now landed at number 13 on the Billboard 200.
