Atlanta rapper Lil Keed grew up in the same challenging district that shaped Young Thug, absorbing Thug’s sound long before he joined the YSL roster. His own approach remained rooted in the hypnotic, Auto-Tuned trap sound Thug helped popularize; after building a following across greater Atlanta, he reached a national audience through tracks such as “Fetish.”

Keed began recording alongside his younger brother Lil Gotit, uploading material that earned regional traction in 2017. The fatal loss of another local rapper spurred him to treat music as a full-time pursuit, prompting him to devote every hour to recording and amassing new material. Early releases and cuts like “Blicky Blicky” established his reputation in Atlanta, leading to a deal with YSL and the 2018 mixtape Trapped on Cleveland 2. Before the year closed he issued a remix of “Fetish” that included Young Thug, then dropped the high-profile Keed Talk to ’Em project. That 15-track set revisited several signature songs and brought in guest appearances from 21 Savage, Trippie Redd, Lil Yachty, Lil Durk, and additional artists.

The year 2019 proved pivotal, delivering some of Keed’s strongest singles yet and the summer arrival of his debut studio album, Long Live Mexico. Issued through 300 Entertainment and YSL, the project featured an extensive roster of collaborators and contained the hit “Pull Up” with YNW Melly and Lil Uzi Vert. The album climbed to number 26 on the Billboard charts, marking his highest commercial placement to date. In 2020 the mixtape A-Team surfaced with contributions from Zaytoven, Lil Gotit, and Lil Yachty, while a third installment of the Trapped on Cleveland series also arrived that year. Keed added guest verses to projects by Whipped Cream, Kodak Black, and Young Thug across 2020 and 2021. He passed away in Los Angeles on May 13, 2022, at age 24.
