Yung Bans is recognized for a melodic yet restrained approach to rap, resulting in distinctive productions and highly memorable vocal refrains. After issuing multiple self-titled mixtapes, he delivered his first studio album, Misunderstood, in 2019, working alongside Playboi Carti, Smokepurpp, and Lil Skies. Subsequent singles included the 2020 Latto duet “Freak Show” and the 2021 cut “Blow Her Back Out.”

Vas Coleman, who performs as Yung Bans, entered the world in 1999 in Union City, a suburb roughly twenty miles southwest of Atlanta. He took up rapping during adolescence, drawing early inspiration from Lil Wayne and Chief Keef. In 2016, major publications began to notice him thanks to the Carti-assisted “4TSpoon” and his appearance on XXXTENTACION’s “ILoveItWhenTheyRun.” Late the following year he launched a run of self-titled EP-length projects; the second installment gained traction with the track “Lonely,” his biggest success at the time. Three additional volumes appeared throughout 2018.

The next summer brought his debut full-length, Misunderstood, which featured the single “Ready Set Go” alongside 03 Greedo and XXXTENTACION plus guest spots from YNW Melly, Future, Gunna, Young Thug, and others. In the years that followed, Bans concentrated on standalone tracks and guest contributions, including the 2020 release “Hit the Lick!” produced with Giza and Rojas on the Beat, the Latto collaboration “Freak Show” that same year, and the 2021 offerings “Won’t Think Twice” and “Blow Her Back Out.”
