Lil Pump burst onto the scene in 2017 with a hypnotic delivery and playful edge that propelled the track “Gucci Gang” from his self-titled debut into a viral phenomenon. The single achieved strong chart placement and triple-platinum status, leading to partnerships with Diplo and Kanye West ahead of the 2019 release Harverd Dropout. His steady stream of material continued into the following decade, culminating in the 2021 joint project No Name alongside Ronny J.

Born Gazzy Garcia in Miami in 2000, the future rapper showed scant early inclination toward music. After expulsion from ninth grade following a fight, he turned to crafting rhymes and self-produced beats. Already acquainted with Smokepurpp, he began issuing collaborations online in 2016, characterized by a looping, audacious approach that rapidly amassed millions of streams. Early singles such as “Broke My Wrist,” “D Rose,” and “Elementary” further broadened his reach, prompting videos, live dates, and an expansive social-media footprint well before any mixtape appeared.

The decisive breakthrough came when “Gucci Gang” climbed to the Hot 100’s top three by year’s end and earned triple-platinum certification. October saw the arrival of the mixtape Lil Pump, which featured Smokepurpp, Gucci Mane, and Lil Yachty among others; the set reached number three on the Billboard 200 and number two on the R&B/hip-hop chart. Later that year, the energetic “Welcome to the Party,” uniting Diplo, French Montana, and Zhavia Ward, landed on the Deadpool 2 soundtrack.

Throughout 2018, Pump supplied guest verses for Li’l Yachty, Lil Rich, and BlocBoy JB before closing the year with the Kanye West collaboration “I Love It,” whose video was directed by Spike Jonze. February 2019 brought the Warner Bros. album Harverd Dropout, populated by Lil Wayne, YG, 2 Chainz, Offset, Quavo, and additional high-profile contributors. Subsequent singles “Illuminati” with Anuel AA and “Life Like Me” preceded the late-2021 joint release No Name with Ronny J. Further solo cuts “Splurgin” and “Mosh Pit” arrived in 2022, joined by “Mona Lisa” with Soulja Boy and “She Know” with Ty Dolla $ign.
