Yung Pinch set himself apart from standard rap themes of wealth and toughness by first reaching listeners with understated, reflective tracks steeped in nostalgia. Breakthrough success followed with his 2016 release 714Ever, after which he kept refining his approach through later projects such as the 2018 mixtape 4EVERFRIDAY SZN ONE and the 2021 album Washed Ashore.

Born Blake Sandoval in 1997, he spent his formative years in Huntington Beach, California. As a teenager he began posting tracks online and developed production abilities with assistance from Brandan "Matics" Maddox. Their partnership produced early singles and mixtapes, among them 2014's Late Nights Early Mornings.

The 2016 mixtape 714Ever brought wider attention, its relaxed tracks evoking his coastal upbringing through melodic choruses and unhurried beats. From that point he expanded his circle, working with 03 Greedo, Mozzy, Lil Skies, and additional artists. Subsequent releases maintained the same tone, with lyrics rooted in his beach-town background and personal history.

His output accelerated in 2018, encompassing the mixtape 4EVERFRIDAY SZN ONE and singles including "Big Checks" featuring YG, "1997," and the 03 Greedo collaboration "Wake Up." Further tracks appeared in 2019 such as "Castaway," "Nothing Left," and "When I Get Home (Hotel California)." January 2021 saw the arrival of the full-length Washed Ashore, which contained "No Ones There" and reached number 21 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart.
