Lil Tecca

Born in 2002 as Tyler Sharpe, the Queens native Lil Tecca first gravitated toward rap at nine years old, sharpening his skills through Xbox freestyle battles with friends. Those sessions helped shape an Auto-Tuned delivery shaped heavily by Chief Keef. A handful of self-released tracks appeared online in 2018; momentum arrived the following year when “Did It Again” and the breakout single “Ransom” reached wider listeners, the latter landing on his debut mixtape We Love You Tecca. That project, along with the 2020 studio debut Virgo World and its 2021 sequel We Love You Tecca 2, each entered the Billboard Top Ten. Two further albums, 2023’s Tec and 2024’s PLAN A, likewise registered strong chart showings.

By his early teens Sharpe had moved from casual interest to uploading joint tracks with Lil Gummybear. Late 2017 and early 2018 brought growing traction for his trappy material, highlighted by “My Time” accumulating millions of streams. A brief exchange with Canadian rapper LB added visibility, and by early 2019 both tracks and videos routinely drew multimillion audiences. “Ransom” quickly surpassed tens of millions of streams and charted on Billboard; it anchored We Love You Tecca, which peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 while the then-16-year-old balanced weekend studio time with weekday high-school obligations.

After issuing standalone cuts such as “IDK” and “All Star” featuring Lil Tjay, Tecca delivered Virgo World in September 2020, reaching number ten on the pop charts. Additional non-album singles followed in 2021, including “Jetski” with Lil Mosey and Internet Money, before We Love You Tecca 2 arrived that August. The set featured Iann Dior, Trippie Redd, Nav, Lil Yachty and further guests, again debuting at number ten on the Billboard 200. “Fallin” and “Faster” surfaced in 2022, succeeded by “Treesha,” “Blessing,” and the 2023 release “Need Me.” Tec arrived that September, opening at number 11 on Billboard with appearances from Kodak Black and Ken Carson; “Down with Me” was added as a bonus track. The 2024 double single “Number 2”/“Never Last” preceded PLAN A in September, which included Don Toliver on “I Can’t Let Go” and entered the Billboard Top Ten.
