Biography
With a blend of relaxed charm and magnetic presence, the California rapper Bankrol Hayden developed a loyal following from the late 2010s into the early 2020s through his unhurried style of hip-hop. A sequence of pivotal singles and freestyles gradually drew attention, culminating in his breakthrough via the 2019 Luh Kel collaboration “Brothers,” which featured on his 2020 debut album Pain Is Temporary. The 2021 single “Come Through” with Lil Tecca later surfaced on his second project, 29, released in early 2023.
Raised in Modesto, California, Bankrol Hayden first entered the scene in 2017 under his birth name Hayden Inacio with the introspective track “Humble,” made available on streaming services. Switching to the Bankrol Hayden name, he achieved initial traction that same year when the follow-up “Ride with You,” a freestyle over OutKast’s “Ms. Jackson,” gained widespread traction across video platforms. His easygoing delivery and direct lyricism quickly expanded his reach; the 2018 release “29,” a reflective account of a close brush with death, accumulated millions of streams after prominent placement on WorldStarHipHop.
A run of additional 2018 singles—“28,” “Real,” “Bestfriend,” “Drumsticks,” and “Sandlot”—preceded another viral freestyle, this time over Drake’s “Nice for What.” The 2019 track “B.A.N.K.R.O.L.” attracted broader industry notice and led to a partnership with chart-topping artist Luh Kel; their joint single “Brothers” became Hayden’s largest success yet, surpassing 50 million streams. Early 2020 brought the sun-soaked trap cut “Costa Rica,” and both songs appeared on the official debut Pain Is Temporary, which included contributions from Lil Baby, Polo G, and the Kid LAROI. “Come Through” featuring Lil Tecca dropped in September 2021, followed in the ensuing months by “No Drama,” “Fuck Love,” and “Deep End” with Lil Skies; all tracks were collected on the March 2023 sophomore album 29.
