Atlanta rapper Young Nudy first drew widespread attention through his 2016 mixtape Slimeball. Across that project the emerging MC blended an array of approaches within his off-kilter rap aesthetic, shifting between a narcotized, affectless cadence and brighter, triplet-driven passages. After the breakthrough success of Slimeball he issued a run of progressively denser projects, among them the 2019 Pi’erre Bourne collaboration Sli’merre, the ominous and unsettling soundscapes of Dr. EV4L in 2021, and the 2023 food-themed Gumbo, which fused throwback radio-rap beats with sinuous, menacing delivery. He also linked with Metro Boomin for the 2024 single “John Wayne.”

Born Quantavious Thomas, Young Nudy emerged alongside a gifted wave of Atlanta rappers that included cousins 21 Savage and Offset. Producer Pi’erre Bourne took early notice and began slipping Nudy into the studio after hours to lay down tracks for upcoming mixtapes. Although a 2014 video for “Off the Head” had already circulated online, worldwide recognition arrived only with the 2016 release of Slimeball. The following year brought Slimeball 2, which included guest spots from Juicy J and Peso, and later Nudyland, a mixtape featuring production from Richie Souf and Pi’erre Bourne plus appearances by Offset and Lil Yachty. The 2018 collaboration “Since When” with cousin 21 Savage became a major streaming success, while Slimeball 3 arrived before the year ended. In 2019 the full-length Sli’merre with Bourne earned critical praise, as did the understated Faded in the Booth.

Early 2020 saw the arrival of the experimental mixtape Anyways, whose unconventional beats framed some of the rapper’s most agitated and bleak lyrical turns. He continued pushing boundaries on the 2021 sophomore album Dr. EV4L, a horrorcore-tinged effort that paired ominous production with guest verses from Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and G Herbo. Months later Rich Shooter followed in August 2021; the set moved away from horrorcore toward broader experimentation while maintaining mainstream appeal, featuring Future, 21 Lil Harold, Peewee Longway, and others alongside numerous solo showcases. The project entered the Billboard Top 200.

In 2022 Nudy paired with Babydrill for the advance single “Duntsane,” previewing the August mixtape EA Monster. The tightly crafted release emphasized futuristic synth textures and Nudy’s increasingly nimble flow, debuting at number 151 on the Billboard Top 200. Gumbo arrived in February 2023 and shifted course again, favoring sparse beats and nostalgic radio-hip-hop touches; every track carried a food-related title, including the Hot 100 single “Peaches & Eggplants,” and guests Key Glock and 21 Savage appeared. The album opened at number 135 on the Billboard chart. In July 2024 he reunited with Metro Boomin for “John Wayne.”
