Though born in Newark, New Jersey, hardcore rapper Hoodrich Pablo Juan lingered on the outskirts of Atlanta’s thriving underground rap community for years before he began composing and laying down his own verses near 2015. After he and his residence became targets of an Atlanta police unit focused on narcotics offenses, Hoodrich shifted entirely to music creation, channeling his encounters in the city’s rougher districts into hard-hitting rhythms and deliveries shaped partly by Southern rap forebears such as Pimp C and Gucci Mane. His debut mixtape Designer Drugz surfaced in 2015, succeeded by further installments that included Designer Drugz, Vol. 2 and Master Sensei, both issued in 2016, plus the 2017 joint effort Hood Wolf alongside notorious trap producer Danny Wolf. At that stage Hoodrich had aligned with the Mony Powr Rspt imprint and was preparing Designer Drugz, Vol. 3 for a second-half 2017 rollout. Rich Hood followed in 2018 and included contributions from Gunna, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, and additional artists. Later the same year came a second project, Hoodwolf 2, again pairing him with Danny Wolf, now credited as Hoodrich Entertainment’s staff producer, and spotlighting Rich the Kid, BlocBoy JB, and Lil Skies. In 2019 Hoodrich delivered the drug-themed mixtape BLO: The Movie, which once more showcased Gunna along with Young Thug, Young Dolph, Smooky MarGielaa, Gucci Mane, and NAV.
