Biography
Emerging from Los Angeles, D. Savage crafts a melodic yet airy sound that steers clear of any softness. Immediately after finishing high school, the rapper achieved breakout success when his debut track turned into a viral sensation in 2016. Having sharpened his skills amid the SoundCloud rap community, he refined his approach across projects such as the 2018 mixtape D Phoenix and the more polished studio effort Mafia Musik from 2023.
Born Dylan McCord in Queens, New York, during 1998, he moved with his family to Los Angeles at a young age. At 17, while killing time in a friend’s recording studio, he casually tracked “30 Round Clip” as his very first recording. Released online under the moniker D Savage 3900, the track swiftly racked up millions of streams. He kept uploading singles through 2016 and 2017, achieving another breakthrough with the 2017 release “I Know,” which reflected clear artistic progress beyond his initial raw attempts. Securing a major-label agreement with a Capitol subsidiary, he issued the D Phoenix mixtape in 2018 under the name D. Savage. The project included appearances from Lil Yachty, Yung Bans, and Ty Dolla $ign, while tracks such as “Opera” supplied additional viral momentum. July 2019 saw the arrival of his debut studio album, Trust No One. Following the 2020 single “How Does It Feel,” he returned in 2021 with BPL, which featured guest spots from Lil Gnar and Matt Ox along with the collaborative single “IDC” alongside Trippie Redd. Mafia Musik arrived in 2023, preceded by multiple singles and containing no guest features; selections like “Kome On” and “Dirty Dan” each amassed multimillion streaming totals, and the set reached number 16 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. The rapper issued the new tracks “Mob” and “Empire” in 2024.
