Chicago rapper Lucki distinguishes himself through a dreamy, restrained delivery that occasionally edges toward mumble rap, relying on fresh beat selections and raw, confessional storytelling. The magnetic young artist has explored addiction and mental-health battles across his work while linking with figures such as Danny Brown and FKA twigs. He has issued numerous forward-thinking mixtapes, among them 2015’s Freewave, as well as more substantial efforts like the 2021 F1lthy-produced Wake Up Lucki. Capitalizing on early momentum, he has placed each subsequent album inside the Billboard 200’s Top 20: 2022’s Flawless Like Me, 2023’s S*x M*ney Dr*gs, and 2024’s Gemini!

Born Lucki Camel in 1996 on Chicago’s West Side, he started rapping during high school before leaving to focus on music, initially recording as Lucki Eck$. His debut mixtape, Alternative Trap, arrived in 2013 and matched its title with lush, orchestral instrumentation and unconventional arrangements. Still a teenager, Lucki gained notice through joint tracks alongside King Krule, Danny Brown, FKA twigs, and Chance the Rapper. While confronting personal challenges, he channeled those experiences into the murkier, substance-heavy aesthetic of mixtapes that appeared roughly every six to twelve months; the freestyle-heavy 2015 release Freewave proved especially stark.

In 2016 he briefly stepped away from recording to regain stability, resurfacing the following year with Watch My Back. His output kept examining inner turmoil, as early 2019 brought the intense Freewave 3 and the comparatively optimistic Days B4 III before year’s end. Another project, Almost There, surfaced in 2020, framing his usual weighty themes over marginally brighter sonics. In 2021 he teamed with Philadelphia producer F1lthy for the shadowy, atmospheric Wake Up Lucki, a twelve-track mixtape driven by explosive beats. Over the next twelve months he issued standalone singles before unveiling the expansive, twenty-four-track Flawless Like Me, which reached number 12 on the Billboard 200.

Following a guest spot on Trippie Redd’s Mansion Musik, he returned in July 2023 with his third studio album, S*x M*ney Dr*gs, again landing inside the Billboard 200’s upper tier. After dropping several singles, Lucki issued his fourth full-length, Gemini!, in June 2024; the set once more debuted inside the U.S. album chart’s Top 20 and included appearances from Lil Yachty, Rylo Rodriguez, 42 Dugg, and additional guests.
