Lil Wop

Born in Chicago during 1993, the rapper known as Lil Wop—also called Lil Wop 17 or simply the Wopster—started posting his own tracks to the internet while still in his late teens. Around 2016 he relocated to Atlanta after his younger brother, already settled there, encouraged the move. His brooding, nearly demonic approach drew strong inspiration from the aggressive, menacing sound associated with Gucci Mane. Eventually those recordings reached Gucci Mane directly, leading to a contract with the 1017 Eskimo imprint in 2017. The same year proved especially prolific, as Lil Wop issued a rapid succession of mixtapes that included Wake-N-Bake along with three entries in the Wopavelli series.
