Biography
SoFaygo demonstrates a nimble approach to vocals that shifts without warning between introspective melancholy and aggressive confrontation, drawing from a range of inspirations such as Drake and Chief Keef. Shortly after his commercial introduction via the 2019 release "Knock Knock," which quickly gained traction, he signed to Travis Scott's Cactus Jack imprint. Subsequent output included a steady stream of singles, EPs, and mixtapes that paved the way for his debut studio album, Pink Heartz, issued in 2022.
Though raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Andre Burt, Jr. was born in Cobb County, Georgia. He began capturing music casually during childhood and grew more dedicated in his early teens, mastering a digital audio workstation on his own. Initially operating under the name Trvllinese, Burt adopted the moniker $oFaygo and built an audience on SoundCloud through individual tracks and various EPs and mixtapes. One of his 2019 efforts, the Lil Tecca-produced "Knock Knock," spread widely online and was featured on the 2020 mixtape Angelic 7, which Tecca handled entirely as producer.
News of SoFaygo's Cactus Jack affiliation circulated the next year. The label made much of his earlier material available on streaming platforms while the rapper prepared his first full-length project through tracks like "Hobby" and "Let's Lose Our Minds." The June 2022 EP B4PINK served as an immediate lead-in to Pink Heartz, which followed in July. That album contained the singles "Hell Yeah" featuring Ken Carson, "Blitz V2," "Another One," and "Fasho," along with appearances from Lil Uzi Vert, Don Toliver, Gunna, and DJ Khaled. Additional EPs such as PLUS+ and GO! came afterward, with the latter housing the song "Ye."
