Dallas native Keandrian Qynzel Jones, better known as Kankan, first drew notice for his production work, notably on Smokepurpp and Xavier Wulf’s 2017 cut “Fuck a Swisher.” After stepping behind the microphone on a whim, the artist quickly revealed a second skill set, sharpening an unhurried cadence and pointed lyricism across a steady stream of releases that includes his standout track “Wokeup” along with projects such as the 2019 self-titled effort and 2022’s WAY2GEEKED.

Jones built his early profile through SoundCloud, where he connected with others and joined the short-lived, loosely organized Slayworld crew. His production credits expanded rapidly in 2017 to encompass Famous Dex and Lil Pump’s “Talkin Shit” as well as ThouxanbanFauni’s “No Tomorrow.” A casual Instagram poll in which he jokingly asked followers whether he should “hop in the booth” led him to try rapping; the experience proved so engaging that he redirected his energies toward performing. During 2019 he dropped multiple singles plus the EPs Radiant 2, a collaboration with Kobe, and Kankan. The following year brought another batch of tracks and the project B4 AMGs & SRTS. In 2021 the Oxy & Codeine EP, the full-length Rr featuring two appearances by Yeat, and the widely embraced single “Wokeup” kept him in the spotlight. His output continued unabated in 2022 with the EP ##B4W2G and the album WAY2GEEKED.
