Less than two years after issuing his first recordings, the Maryland-raised singer/rapper theHxliday signed with Motown while still in his teens, bringing a conversational style that blends contemporary R&B with pop-oriented rap. His breakthrough came via the breakup ballad “Enemy,” after which he delivered the EPs Broken Halls (2020) and Batbxy (2021).

Born Noah Malik Lee and raised in Perry Hall outside Baltimore, he first encountered music through his mother’s band performances and sharpened his voice as a youngster in ensembles such as the Maryland State Boychoir. By high school he had committed fully to music as a singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer. He began releasing tracks in 2018; the following year he issued “Enemy,” the recording he regards as his debut proper single. Its streaming numbers quickly topped one million, making it his biggest success to date. The five-track Broken Halls arrived as his first EP in 2020, after which he secured his Motown deal and an expanded version of that project was issued. Several additional singles dropped in late 2020 and early 2021 paved the way for his second EP, Batbxy.
